Spring Break is going to be here before you know it. Sure, you're probably still trying to cram the last of the Christmas decorations back in the attic (they expand when exposed to sunlight, you know) or maybe you're thinking this is the year you'll actually get your taxes done early (hope springs eternal, but I will wave to you as we pull up to the post office at midnight April 15). For whatever reason, maybe you're putting off those travel plans to head to Cape San Blas or Mexico Beach for March or April, thinking you'll get around to it later.

I am just as bad as the next person when it comes to procrastination, but I am a sucker for incentives and deals. You've Got Mail!

Our first eblast from our new site is queuing up as I type this. I figured I should probably stay close by the computer in case it smokes, starts making bad noises or something else unexpected occurs!

Seriously, we started the "eblast sign-up" a long time ago, on our original website. I try not to abuse the privilege of being invited into your email boxes, but today seemed like a good time to circle the wagons and reach out to all of you who have stayed with us in the past, as well as those of you who have signed up to be notified about specials and send out a big "Hey, look what we've been up to!" email.

And what we've been up to is a lot. We've added some great new properties, we've been working hard to get some great specials to make your vacation a little more afforadable, and we''re developing different ways of getting you information on specials, events, new businesses, and other information that will make your vacation even more enjoyable.

New Properties are Almost Heaven, Barefoot B45 and My Tide. Each one of these properties has great features that may make it the perfect property for your family! Be sure to use the "compare" option on the site and take a look at what they have to offer. Of course don't hesitate to pick up the phone as well! We're always happy to discuss your vacation needs, budget, and wish list and help you pick the best fit for you!

Our "tried and true" properties are still great options and great values. Turtle Shores is undergoing some exciting changes later this month. Beach Cliff is now a 4 bedroom (loft has been enclosed). All our properties will be meticulously cleaned and prepared for our spring and summer guests, and whether you choose Gary's Gift in Mexico Beach or one of our four fabulous townhomes in Barrier Dunes, we want you to have the best vacation experience possible!

If you need suggestions on charter trips, rentals of boats or gear, need ideas of things to do, where to eat, etc., we are always eager to help with suggestions! (And be sure to check out the Area Information section that was featured in last week's blog!)

One last serious "legalese" note. If you did receive an eblast and wish to not receive any more, just use the "opt out" feature at the bottom of the email. We hope you won't of course, but we never want to be an intrusion or a bother -- we want to be your "fun friends" who help you escape to the beach as often as possible! (And you can just put your own visual here because I'm sure whatever photo I pull up wouldn't do it justice!)

How to Use the Area Information Tab

Our Area Information tab takes the place of the former "Local Info and Things to Do" part of our website. We are going to continue to expand and improve this great resource, but there's already a lot of wonderful information for you as you plan your trip to our area.

When you click on the Area Information Tab, you'll be taken to an initial screen. You'll see some attractions and businesses that have been populated at random. From that main screen, you can tailor your selections by following the steps below:

The drop-down arrow by -Category- will reveal specific choices. If you're looking for area restaurants, mouse down to select "Restaurant" and then click "update" just off to the right.
Now your list is narrowed down to restaurants. You can page through the selections using the "Previous 1 2 3 Next" on the right-hand upper corner of the page.
If a listing is of interest to you, click on the name or the photo associated with that listing.
Now you're at the main page for that listing. There you can see the distance to several of the units, and you can zoom the map in or out, change it to satellite, etc., and even click through to a property from the map itself.
You can use the back arrow on your browser to get out of a specific listing and return to the search results.

If you want to go back to all listings or search another category, use the drop-down box and arrow again. To see them all reselect -Category- and then click "update." To search another category, follow the steps above that we used to select restaurants before.

On the business or activity's individual listing page, we've given you their relevant contact information and a link to their website if they have one. We also have photographs if we've got some available.

We're working on a printer-friendly version of these listings so you can print them off to take with you on your vacation (but we have internet at our units so you can always browse them once you arrive too!)

If there's a business or recreational activity you'd like to see added, please email us and we'll do our best to add the listing. If you have photographs from a particular place or establishment you want to share, send them along and we'll try to get them added (be sure you have permission and rights to share, however!)

If you've never been to the area before, you really will learn a lot browsing through this section of the site. Even if you're a regular visitor and familiar with a lot of the businesses and activities, take a minute to catch up on changes or additions as you begin your activity planning!

It's definitely not too early to start booking your vacation for Spring Break or Summer. Pick your unit and dates now while selection is the best! Book online or give us a call and we'll get your reservation handled promptly. And don't forget we're running a buy 2 nights get 1 free for a weekend winter getaway as well!

Visit Our New Facebook Page and "Like" Us!

We hope you enjoyed a wonderful holiday last week and are looking forward to ringing in 2012 this weekend! We haven't been resting on our laurels around here -- I can't resist, but I promise not to use it more than once a year, okay? -- and just yesterday we launched our Facebook Page!

We hope all of you who are Facebookers will click on the link above and like the page. Why? Well, because for one thing it will make us just as happy as Sally Fields over here to the right.

But more importantly, it will give you a convenient way to keep up with specials we plan to only offer our loyal Facebook fans, and also a place to go and upload your photos from vacations at our properties, share interesting information with other Rentals Cape San Blas Vacation Rentals page fans and a lot of other really cool stuff we haven't even thought of yet!

We promise not to make you want to hide the page by posting updates every four seconds. We promise that we will do our best to post really good information, deals, photos, videos, and things that we think you will enjoy or find useful! I built the website with limited knowledge, a template, and a lot of use of the "help" key in Expression Web.
