Hate to give away our secret, but it was. Close 1/2 mile drive or walk to windmark beach, had 3 dogs so we had to drive most of the time, but Ken walked with fishing gear a few times. Nice community although it could get a bit noisy with kids at times, but we loved it and are looking forward to a return next year. Donna told me to call 24/7 if i needed anything, but never had to. Dollar General Market was a few miles away where i did most of my budget friendly shopping, Piggly Wiggly was a bit further but how can you complain about maybe 5 miles total. Was able to find special dog food, clothing, other relaxing spots in Port St. Joe easily. Don't forget to visit St. Vincent Is. Take bug spray, Cape San Blas, the Raw Bar in Indian Pass, and my favorite, Apalachicola. I could live there. Don't miss the Gelatto shop on the main st. A very good time.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review Barefoot B45! We are delighted you had a good visit and look forward to having you back soon.
This was a lovely two story cottage. This is a very pet friendly area. In this regard was one of my problems..With all of the pets in the complex, most of the residents didn't pick up after their pets. This created quite a mess and you had to be very careful where you walked. As a pet owner who pickes up after their pet I found this very disrespectful of others. My other issue was that I took a serious fall in the bathtub while taking a shower and injured my knee and ended up in the ER. I had to leave the residence early to come home and am presently in Physical therapy. I would suggest perhaps a tub mat and/or a bar in shower area, especially for older tenents. The area resturants were quite good and I left menus that I collected and left in the residence for others to read. Loved the beaches, but were not in walking distance of unit.
We appreciate your taking the time to post a review! We will be sure the complex management (we do not have authority in that regard) is made aware of your experience with regard to pet owners not acting appropriately. We are so glad you are recovering from your fall. "Grab bars" are not typically a standard feature in a vacation rental. We would have been happy to provide a tub mat had one been requested, and we will pass this suggestion along to the owner. With regard to whether or not it is walking distance to the beach, I suppose that is a "your mileage may vary" situation. We do have a map of the unit and the complex on the site for those who are considering staying as our guests, and we do advise everyone that the access is across 98 from the complex. There is parking at the public access for those who feel it is more convenient to jump in the car and go to the beach rather than walk. Again, thank you for your comments and we appreciate your being our winter
